About MPC Rwanda

The Missionaries of the Peace of Christ the King (Missionnaires de la Paix du Christ–Roi / MPC) is a Catholic community of public interest, inter-community, and apolitical, dedicated to peace mediation, inclusive education, and integral human development across Rwanda.

Our Founding & Canonical History

Founded in 2001 by Sister Marie Spéciose Donata Uwimanimpaye at Janja in the Catholic Diocese of Ruhengeri, Northern Province of Rwanda.

The community replaced the faith-based organization named « APAX » (Artisans de la Paix du Christ-Roi), originally endowed with Civil Personality No. 41/11 of 29/11/2007 (Ministerial Order No. 06/2012 of 17/02/2012, published in the Official Gazette No. 15 of 09/04/2012).

Today, the MPC Community is governed by Ministerial Law N° 72/2018 of 31/08/2018 (Official Gazette No. 37 of 10/09/2018) governing faith-based organizations in Rwanda, operating with canonical approval across 5 Catholic Dioceses.

Our Core Strategy

The Three Dimensions of Peace Mediation

To achieve integral human development, MPC applies three complementary strategies.

Strategy 1

Spiritual Order (Mystical Mediation)

Forming ecclesiastical communities, vocational animation, active listening to traumatized persons, sacrament preparation, annual retreats, and prayer ministry to rebuild inner peace.

Strategy 2

Social Order (Social Mediation)

Conducting community mediation workshops, dialogue forums, conflict prevention, rebuilding social bonds shattered by violence, and advocating for the rights of persons with disabilities.

Strategy 3

Economic Order (Creative Mediation)

Rural socio-economic development, 3-year vocational training (sewing, culinary, crafts, construction), inclusive education at Janja and Muramba, physiotherapy, and parent micro-empowerment.
